    good to hear you’re alive!

      Haha thanks!

lol you just did a Dan Carlin! Don’t get too addicted to context or you’ll be down to 2 episodes a year before you know it
Personally I don’t keep track of when your episodes are released, you have such a huge back catalogue there’s always something to listen to.

    1. Adam says:

Oh no, that’s exactly what I was hoping wouldn’t happen! I certainly hope I can stick to this new schedule better than Dan can, though. Thanks for the input!

Hey Adam, I am a big fan of the show and have worked my way from episode one over the last several months. First off, thank you for starting HI101 and thank you for the great content over the last five years (“spoiler”: it’s closer to eight now)!

Second, I wanted to pop in the comments to offer the perspective of a newer, binge listener in case that’s helpful for you. As background, the first history podcast I listen to was Dan Carlin‘s Hardcore History and the second one was Mike Duncan‘s History of Rome, so I feel like I’m quite the different audience than you target. That being said, I think your overall structure and length of your episodes is very effective for people like me at least. I find myself excited to bring my dog for a walk, spend several hours every weekend on a recycling project, or do the dishes at night (all right, excited to do dishes might be a stretch) because of your show. That is to say, at this point you’ve gained my trust as a host and I’m going to embrace any changes that you are either forced to incorporate or that you develop and want to implement, and at least give you the benefit of the doubt when something is new or different. I’ve left comments with all of my suggestions so far (zero to date) and will continue to do so as long as you’re soliciting feedback!

And finally…where can I find show notes post-episode 54, if they exist? Thanks for all you do!

    1. Adam says:

Hey, good to hear from you again! Glad you’re still sticking with the show – it’s impressive.

Thanks for the feedback – it’s still helpful, even after all this time. When people get used to something being a certain way, they’re not always terribly excited for change; I’m glad to say that my audience has been very gracious about this one, and all these years later I’m confident it was the right decision for the show.

Sorry about the notes – I’ve mentioned elsewhere, but I ran into an issue that wiped all my notes not too long ago. Completely my fault. I’m working on getting them back up, but it’s a little manual, and the show always comes first. They’ll be available eventually, I promise!
