Hello, thank you for all your hard work these past few months!

Regarding the ‘Holocaust episode when’ question, there is an angle you can take at it that I think would be interesting. Obviously not soon, you need a break, but focusing less on the event that happened as more as how it was seen.

You could theoretically view it through the lens of WWII historiography and iconography, and how it influenced societies thereafter. You touched on the Indiana Jones image of Nazi’s, etc. but bringing in things like David Irving and his court case vs. Penguin books (and, more directly, Deborah Lipstadt) and how perspectives of the war have been used and abused by various factions between the end of the war and the end of the 20th century. While I know historiography is not a topic that gets a lot of people’s blood pumping, this might be one that has enough appeal to help lift back the veil.

Another few topics that I would love to hear from you (completely changing the subject but not really) is a history of Frederick II of Prussia (IE, Frederic the Great) and/or the 7 years war, or a history of the Phoenicians.

Thank you for all your hard work. I found your podcast partway through last year and it helped improve my 2020 immensely. Also, can I say that as a fellow Canadian (though from further out west) I really appreciate the spotlight episodes you have done on Canadian History. With that said, another topic that might interest you might be the National Energy Program in the 1980’s. I know we just passed the 40 year anniversary, and yet despite it’s profound impact on politics in my province I had not really ever heard about it until articles about said anniversary came out last year.

Sorry for the wall of text, keep being awesome!

You know, that’s a really great point regarding how to potentially tackle the Holocaust at some point! I appreciate the suggestion – it’s something I hadn’t considered, but really could work out well some day. Thanks for this, and for all the other ideas!
