The story was held up as a warning against science and modernity gone too far without any consideration of potential consequences (which I would argue is a correct reading), but extended to be used as a lesson against why science shouldn&#8217;t be trusted at all, which I feel is a departure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">44:46 &#8211; The Italian City-State that had historically  controlled Dalmatia, serving for the basis of Italy&#8217;s claim on the region, was the Republic of Venice. Venice held the region between 1420 and 1797, at which point it was captured by France; after the Napoleonic Wars it would be incorporated into the Austro-Hungarian Empire, to the chagrin of Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">47:34 &#8211; Dalmatia had been under Yugoslavia, which at the time went by the name &#8220;The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">59:55 &#8211; Italy managed to field more than 5 million troops in the First World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2:14:21 &#8211; SA stood for <em>Sturmabteilung<\/em>, or &#8220;Storm Detachment&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As with every show, I\u2019ll list any corrections or clarifications here.
