  1. Adrian Zelisko says:

You mixed up Crassus with Croesus.

      Hi Adrian,

Would you mind expanding a bit? I’m pretty sure everything we said was about Crassus, but if I’m missing something I’d love to know about it!

  2. Adrian Zelisko says:

“To be rich like…” was suppose to be rich like Croesus, a king of Lydia.
    Not Crassus from Rome.
Sorry for my english, it’s not my first language.

    1. Adam says:

Oh interesting, you’re absolutely right! I had no idea. Thank you very much. So the information was okay other than that specific saying, which I’d always thought was about Crassus due to his vast wealth. I learned something new today!

Don’t worry about your English at all, it’s better than plenty of native speakers you see on the internet 🙂

Thanks once again! I’ll make a note to add a correction.

  3. Adrian Zelisko says:

“In Greek and Persian cultures the name of Croesus became a synonym for a wealthy man. Croesus’ wealth remained proverbial beyond classical antiquity: in English, expressions such as “rich as Croesus” or “richer than Croesus” are used to indicate great wealth to this day. ”
